Believe it or not, gummy candies are easy to reproduce at home and can even be good for you. Yep, I said good for you!
The main reason is that one of their key ingredients is gelatin (not to be confused with that packaged sugar product that bounces on tables). Gelatin comes from animal bones and gives you protein in the form of the amino acids glycine and proline.
Although glycine is produced by your body, supplementation may help with sleep quality as well as combat free radicals. Proline is one of the building blocks for producing collagen in your body (hello, great skin!).17
So whip up a batch of gummies with organic juice, fresh berries, and reliably sourced unflavored gelatin to enjoy when the mood strikes.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup organic lemon juice
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 3 tablespoons raw honey
- 1/4 cup grass-fed gelatin
Directions:
- Blend lemon juice and blueberries in a blender on high until completely mixed.
- Pour into a saucepan.
- Add the honey and gelatin and whisk together to make a paste.
- Over low heat, continue to whisk the mixture for five to ten minutes until it thins out.
- Remove from heat.
- Pour into silicone molds or a small baking dish.
- Set in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up.
- Cut into bite-size pieces or remove from the mold.
